Fullback
No. 41
Ohio State
"In the first three years of his pro career, Matt Snell finished among the top ten in both rushing and receiving, tallying a total of 2,355 yards for a 4.2 average.
The AFL's Rookie of the Year in 1964 and the Jets' MVP in '65, he got off to another good start by gaining 95 yards in the opener of the '67 season before he suffered a torn knee cartilage. The 6-2, 219-pound fullback was not the same when he returned to action around mid-season. His 1967 totals were 207 yards rushing and 54 yards on pass receptions.
Matt worked hard during the off-season to get his knee back into shape. The Jets are looking forward to having the versatile veteran in top form again. They need his speed, power, blocking and pass protection, not to mention those quick runs up the middle or to the outside.
He's from Ohio State and was the Jets' No. 1 draft choice in 1964."
-Jack Zanger, Pro Football 1968
"A complete fullback, Matt finished in the top ten in the American Football League in rushing and receiving in each of his first three years."
